繁华事散逐香尘，流水无情草自春。
日暮东风怨啼鸟，落花犹似坠楼人。
Pinyin
fán huá shì sàn zhú xiāng chén， liú shuǐ wú qíng cǎo zì chūn。
rì mù dōng fēng yuàn tí niǎo， luò huā yóu sì zhuì lóu rén。
English Meaning
The splendor of the past has scattered with the fragrant dust; the stream flows unmoved and the grass springs green on its own. At dusk the east wind vexes the crying birds — falling blossoms like the girl who leapt from the tower.

About the Poem
A quatrain by Du Mu (803–852) at the ruined Golden Valley Garden, where Shi Chong's concubine Lüzhu once threw herself from a tower rather than surrender to his rival. Each falling petal recalls her fall.
