Chinese Character Writing Practice
Find Chinese characters or words by hanzi, pinyin, or English, or paste a sentence to practice. Follow stroke-order guidance to trace each character, or test your memory by writing without an outline.
How to practice Chinese handwriting
Practice Chinese characters online: search by hanzi, pinyin, or English — or paste Chinese text to practice. Pinyin and English meanings are shown while you practice.
Trace Chinese characters with stroke-order guidance
New to a character? Trace it first. Each stroke is checked as you write — wrong strokes shake and ask for a retry, correct strokes are recorded on the grid — and Hint replays the standard form any time.
Write Chinese characters from memory
When tracing feels too easy, switch to Write. The outline disappears: you write the character from memory on a blank grid, the way a test asks you to. Every stroke is still checked for order and direction, so the character is only complete when each stroke lands where it belongs.
See your handwriting against the standard
While you write, each correct stroke settles into the standard form, so the character takes shape cleanly and a wobbly early stroke does not throw off the rest. When you finish, the grid switches to what you actually wrote: your own strokes, with the standard character kept as a pale guide behind them. You can see both what you made and what to fix — in Write mode, that finished view is what Save exports.
Save your handwriting as an image
Save the finished character as an image: your handwritten character on a practice grid, plus your name and the practice date — a record of your handwriting practice you can keep or share. In Write mode the standard form stays behind your strokes as a pale guide.

Want to write freely, with nothing to match?
Practice keeps every stroke in order and checks it. The Handwriting tool is the other half of the site: write any character your way on a blank grid, let HanziPress recognize what you wrote, and keep your original handwriting as a work with its own shareable link.
